Boiling Point

Yesterday at work i nearly lost it but tried to remain composed.

A meeting had been organised to be held in our boardroom and they had a lunch organised for themselves. Fine.

At the end of the day we were left to clean up their scraps. Fine. So we cleared all the plates etc and came to realise that all the food left would need to be disposed of.

WHAT?!?!?!

There was a whole tray of filled and cut up baguettes. It was wasteful!!! Why did they overcater? I was so angry. I had to scrap off a plate full of salad rolls because they put too much out and because no-one was hungry enough to eat them. I wanted to yell and scream and do something, i don't know what.

Because as i scraped off the leftovers into the bin, all that went through my head was the skinny, malnourished people in the world who had nothing to eat and there i was scraping off food into a garbage bin. I wanted to cry. It wasn't right.

Why is there so much flippin' waste in the world while there are still people starving and dying because they go without? You'd think that waste would be a sign that we have too much and that everyone has plenty, but it's just not true. People are starving and yet there is still wastage - there's something desperately wrong with that scenario!!!!

On the other hand, IT'S TRUE!!! We HAVE got far too much and what makes me the most angriest is that we don't really care.

'Ah well, just throw it away, it won't keep'

AAARRRGGGHHHHHH........

I HATE HATE HATE IT!!!!!!!! There is so much injustice in a tray of freakin' food!!!!

I once heard a statistic, which i'm not sure is true or not, that said there is enough wealth in the world to be shared evenly throughout the world for all mankind and yet people are still going without - YAHHHHHHHHHH...it makes me so livid?!

Somebody PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make all this poverty and destitution GO AWAY?!?!?! Blogger words cannot express my frustration!!!

Tink xoxo

  • It sucks to think that while we overindulge in our materialistic lifestyles-

-Half the world — nearly three billion people — live on less than two dollars a day.

-The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the poorest 48 nations (i.e. a quarter of the world’s countries) is less than the wealth of the world’s three richest people combined.

-Approximately 790 million people in the developing world are still chronically undernourished, almost two-thirds of whom reside in Asia and the Pacific.

-There are 2.2 billion children in the world and 1 billion of them live in poverty (every second child)

-20% of the population in the developed nations, consume 86% of the world’s goods.

And even though we know all these facts we still ignore it.

    It sucks.
